About HIAU

Our History

Moved by the deep poverty and suffering linked directly to limited access to education, Bishop Dr. Darlingston G. Johnson, together with Harvest Intercontinental Ministries-Unlimited (HIM-U), made a strategic decision in 2018 to expand access to quality education for students in some of the world’s most impoverished nations.

Under the leadership of the late Rev. Lorince Arnette Taylor, the Women of HIM-U embraced this mandate. Today, HIM-U includes more than 400 churches, 35 K–12 schools, and one orphanage across six continents, with a strong presence in Sub-Saharan Africa.

In 2020, Bishop Johnson appointed Dr. Kona-Facia Freeman-Nepay to lead the “Bishop Darlingston Johnson Education Mandate (BDJEM) Task Force.” This appointment reinforced his commitment and led to the pivotal decision to establish Harvest Intercontinental American University (HIAU).
