ADMISSION POLICIES
Admission is open to high school graduates who have taken and passed the HIAU Entrance Examinations in Mathematics and English.
Entrance examinations in English and Mathematics are administered periodically and upon request. The entrance fee for prospective undergraduate students is ten United States dollars (US$10). Successful applicants receive admission letters.
Students are admitted under the following categories:
- Regular Admission Status: Students who pass both English and Mathematics.
- Provisional Admission Status: Students who pass only one of the two subjects must register for the required remedial course in the subject they did not pass.
- HIAU permits students with Provisional Admission Status to complete the remedial course during their first semester and clear the deficiency by earning a passing score of 80% or higher.
- HIAU also offers a College Preparatory Certificate Program emphasizing College Algebra, Essentials of English and Writing, Public Speaking, and Effective Study Skills.
The Office of Admissions and Records processes all students who receive HIAU admission letters. After receiving an admission letter, students should report to the Director of Admissions. Prospective students must work with the Office of Admissions and Records to complete the admission process.
Requirements for Undergraduate
- High School Diploma or its equivalent
- Completed Application Form
- Official High School Transcript
- WAEC/ WASSCE or Level-O or equivalent
- Two letters of recommendation (one from your school and one from a religious or community leader).
- One long hanging folder
- A personal statement (should include a brief autobiography and career goals)
- Two recent passport size photographs
- Proof of English Proficiency (for International Students)
- Additional requirements specific to the chosen program or major.
HIAU Admission Process
1. Application Submission:
Prospective students must submit their application form along with all necessary documents at the University’s Admissions Office.
2. Application review:
The admission office shall review the application, including academic records, test scores, letters of recommendation, and personal statements, to determine if the student meets the University’s admission requirements.
3. Admission Decision:
The admission committee decides on whether to accept, deny, or waitlist the student based on their qualifications and the competitiveness of the applicant pool.
4. Offer of Admission:
If accepted, the university will send the student an offer of admission, which may include details on scholarships, financial aid, and enrolment requirement.
5. Acceptance of Offer:
Students must accept offer of admission by the specified deadline to secure their spot in the incoming class.
